BBC highlight huge issue over gender pay gaps

For years women have fought for equal pay, especially in the business world. So this week when the BBC announced that women were being paid over a million less than men for working within the same company, it’s fair to say the internet were in shock.

The two highest paid stars were Chris Evans on £2.2m and Gary Lineker on £1.75m the highest earning female was Claudia Winkleman on £450k.

This highlights the strong problem of gender pay gaps in the business world.

In March PricewaterhouseCoopers stated that it will take another two years for the gap to begin to close and overall women earn 18.1% less than men.

Tony Hall, BBC director general was interviewed after the announcement and stated “we’re making big strides…but we have a lot to do”.
